“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether fed or hungry, whether in plenty or want. I can do everything through the one who gives me strength.” Philippians 4: 12-13.
Greetings Peninsula United Methodist Church! These are the words of Paul, who had lived in and through many a trying circumstance. One thing remained constant for him in all of them–Christ was with him, providing the inner comfort and strength he needed to carry on. I am not sure we have all reached that lovely spiritual place, but these trying days will come into a clearer focus for us if we try to remember what Jesus told us. Jesus said that we would suffer difficulties in this world–but that we should not lose heart–Jesus overcame the world through his obedient and atoning death and glorious resurrection. Let this truth sustain us through a most unusual Lenten Season, that our own Easter may be a glorious personal resurrection from despair.
Let’s be extra mindful to check in on one another during these days of hunkering down in our homes. Remember, we are each only a call or note away.
